A view into insights from the CV19 Lab Testing Dashboard powered by hc1 is now included as part of a recently-updated COVID-19 Action Tracker from The American Enterprise Institute (AEI). The view offers county-level insight into infection risk as measured by positivity rates (% Detected) for PCR tests and the trend in positivity rates in the form of a Local Risk Index (LRI) within each county. Visitors to the AEI site can filter by state, then click a county of interest to view.

The % Detected metric serves as an indicator of the current risk of infection within and across counties. An LRI of >1 indicates risk of infection is currently elevated relative to the risk during the county’s baseline period. An LRI of <1 indicates risk of infection is currently lower than was observed during the county’s baseline period. Click here to read our blog post explaining LRI.

Data used in the dashboard comes from more than 20,000 lab ordering locations from a coalition of laboratories performing nearly 40 percent of the nation’s laboratory testing. Click here to learn more about the coalition.

The CV19 Lab Testing Dashboard is a free resource for public health and healthcare decision-makers who need hyper-local insights into COVID-19 testing rates, positivity rates, and risk of increasing viral activity. It can help them understand where COVID-19 infection is accelerating and identify where local resources will be strained in the next 5 to 21 days.

AEI is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world. The work of their scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in AEI’s belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.
